项晓东于2016年11月加入南科大，讲席教授，曾任美国劳伦斯-伯克利国家实验室终身研究员，SRI资深研究员。曾获1996年 美国“发现杂志” 《Discover》“技术创新奖”、2000年美国“研发杂志”（R&D）“研发100奖”。发表研究论文100余篇，其中含6篇Science、3篇Nature、2篇Physical Review Letters、1篇National Science Review、3篇 Engineering. 被引5451，单篇高被引857，篇均被引60，h-index39, 授权专利100余项。中国工程院材料基因组计划咨询专家，中国材料与试验团体标准委员会材料基因工程领域委员会副主任委员。曾在香山科学会议第118次学术讨论会，作为会议执行主席作报告。

主要研究领域：材料集成芯片的高通量制备与表征方法及其在超导、荧光、介电、铁电、磁阻、相变存储、稀磁半导体、催化、金属玻璃等材料领域的应用。
