研究将稳定性分析、非线性动力学、系统识别和水力学等工具应用于各种不同的流动。研究主要应用在海洋和风能的优化、流动结构的识别和燃气轮机热声不稳定性的预测。

力学与航空航天工程系成立于2015年12月，是南科大工学院重点建设院系之一。力学与航空航天工程系充分借鉴世界一流大学相关院系的办学模式，面向国家在力学、航空航天、创新拔尖人才培养等方面的战略需求，立足于重要前沿基础研究和应用基础研究，目标是成为国际化的研究型机构。力学与航空航天工程系将引进创新办学体制，建设世界一流水平的、以“产学研”模式为中心的、与中国航空航天工业紧密联系的单位，为我国航空航天工业培养实用人才（学）、研发关键技术（研）、提供技术服务（产）。力学与航空航天工程系在科技创新上，将引进国际航空航天工业的先进技术和优秀科研人才，成为中国航空航天工业与国际先进技术接轨的窗口。力求立足国家现有技术力量，发展未来航空航天所需的技术。积极参与国家重点项目，直接参与工程设计、产品研制或提供专业技术咨询，并注重基础工具软件开发，为中国航空航天工业提供技术服务。
